Phonics vs. Whole Word

The first I had ever heard of Bruce Price was from an article I read at American Thinker a couple of days ago. (That article is re-printed on the front page.) Bruce has been extremely kind and generous in giving me permission to republish his stuff, and what a backlog of gems it appears to be. It’s quite apparent that Bruce is not only passionate about fixing education but is completely clear-headed and eyes-wide-open regarding those who oppose a good education and/or are just coming up with all these bad education techniques for whatever stupid reason.

I don’t have any children in school so I’m a bit out of the loop. I try to keep up on the subject by reading an article or book here or there. (Thomas Sowell’s “Inside American Education” is a gem.) But it seems Bruce has been spreading the word for some time now and has made some excellent explanatory videos. Here’s one of them:
