My Heart is a Book of Remembrance

by Glenn Fairman   12/11/12

My Heart is a Book of Remembrance
And its Chapters the Years of our Lives
Its Pages the Love that you offered to me
Since the Day God proposed I arrive

Overflowing in gentle assurance
Truth and virtue the forms of your style
Wisdom and sacrifice, deeds without end
So willing to walk with me, mile after mile

My Life is the tablet you wrote upon
With a stylus you forged of your own
My soul a rough slate bearing all of your words
The fruits of your actions, the seeds you had sown

My Heart is A Book of Remembrance
Without regret will I pay any cost
To ensure that I honor you all of my Days
So that nothing you gave me is lost

I wrote this several years ago. I offer it now in honor of my father-in law who has succumbed to cancer.
