Well, it turns out the Antifa riot in Portland a couple of weeks ago had an interesting aspect. A pair of Antifa thugs beat up someone carrying a flag after he refused their demand to surrender this "fascist" symbol. He required 4 stitches to close his head, and 3 days in the hospital to recover from his concussion.

So far, this would be just another example of the sheer evil of leftism. (Extreme leftists want to beat up or even kill all who disagree with them. Moderate leftists want them to do it and provide cover for them. Just like with Islamists, not surprisingly, given the affinities between the two groups.) But there was also a lovely irony involved. It turns out their victim was a Bernie Bro who frequently shows up at marches. He was carrying a flag to show that the other side didn't have a monopoly on flying it. No matter to Antifa and their supporters (including Bernie Sanders and his fellow Demagogues, of course).

Perhaps best of all, the idiot's main concern seemed to be that such behavior is counter-productive. The idea that such behavior is wrong, indeed monstrous, regardless of whom they target, is evidently alien to him. After all, he's a leftist and has no concept of evil behavior, only evil thoughts (i.e., disagreement with his views). The link is:

I’ve yet to read a good description of just who Antifa are. But clearly this is neither the second coming of The Boston Tea Party nor of George Washington.

The left has done a wonderful job at dumbing-down our population.

How do you think things will turn out for a country which has a population full of people with the attention span of a gnat?

According to reports I've seen, this dumbing-down was planned quite deliberately by John Dewey. As a socialist, he didn't want independently-thinking kids to upset the leftist apple cart. No wonder he's so popular with educrats today. And it follows the basic educational motivation of the Jim Crow schools, the purpose of which was to keep Southern blacks unaware of their rights (especially the First and Second Amendments, which leftists continue to obamanate).

What could possibly go wrong with legalized drugs?

One shudders to think of the number of young people whose minds will be and are already permanently damaged. Add this to the, apparently, very large problem of opioid addiction in the USA and one wonders what percentage of dead-beats a country can support before going under.

A leftist idiot decided to do a one-fool protest of Scott Walker. The latter was helping fill and deploy sandbags to deal with possible flooding in Madison. The leftist protested this with a sign saying "Photo ops, climate change", no doubt himself ignorant of the fact that anyone with a brain already knows that climate periodically changes normally. And also too stupid to realize what protesting someone who (unlike the leftist) was helping out looks really bad. The link is:

In a fantastically stupid/dishonest act today, Facebook removed an NPR study as "spam" and not meeting their content requirements. The article debunked the grossly exaggerated count of school shootings from a government survey of schools. (The question was changed from past surveys, which when combined with the ineptitude of whoever filled in the results in a few schools led to the errors.) Obviously, the NPR piece hurt the leftist anti-gun agenda so strongly that Facebook had to censor this while pretending it has nothing to do with politics.

It would be interesting to organize a betting pool for how long it takes Facebook to be shamed into restoring the article. Meanwhile, a lot of people will never read it because of their blatant censorship. In the meantime, anyone who continues to make use of Facebook is a damn fool. The link is:

I have never used Facebook and do not understand the fascination with the platform. In my opinion, it is a place where one can display, to the whole world, one's idiocy in an instantaneous manner. In the old days, such idiocy was normally only on display to a few and those who displayed it were generally admonished, by a real person next to them,to straighten up before the damage was too far spread.

One tenet of the collective wisdom of the ages is that young people generally do more stupid things than older people. Sometime back, I don't know exactly when, someone figured out how to make money on this immaturity and companies like Facebook and Twitter have just about perfected the monetization of the bad behavior of youth. In fact, they have been so successful that a large number of older adults, who should know better, have adopted the idiocy of youth as the right way to act.

Hot Air has a bunch of interesting stories about idiocy today (too many to link to in a single posting). In the first , it seems Chelsea Manning decided to do a speaking tour in Australia -- but they won't let him in because he was convicted of a felony within the past decade. He naturally whines about being discriminated against. Then, Reality Winner was given a softball interview by CBS. Of course, they never asked anything about her open support for Iran. No need giving the voters inconvenient information.

Andrew Cuomo had his sole "debate" with Cynthia Nixon last night, and they spent much of it acting like two brats arguing on a playground. The highlight came when they were discussing state responsibility for the wretched state of NYC's transit system. Cuomo called on Nixon to stop interrupting him, and she replied by calling on him to stop lying. He answered, "As soon as you do." As some bloggers have pointed out, this implicitly admits that he was in fact lying.

The last involves a Demagogue congressional candidate who claimed, at a party forum before the primary, that she favors a national gun registry. The GOP incumbent (who's expected to have little trouble of disposing of her) just pointed this out in an attack ad. So she claimed that she didn't really believe it, but just slipped up during the forum because she wasn't used to speaking in public. This would be very plausible if she had quickly corrected the error at the time. Not surprisingly, she waited until now to do so, which no doubt helped her win the primary.

Checking out Orwell quotes on wikiquotes (just out of curiosity), I came across the following (Americanized from the original):

In a society in which there is no law, and in theory no compulsion, the only arbiter of behavior is public opinion. But public opinion, because the tremendous urge to conformity in gregarious animals, is less tolerant than any system of law. When people are governed by "thou shalt not", they can practice a certain amount of eccentricityl when they are supposedly governed by "love" or "reason", he is under continuous pressure to make him behave and think in exactly the same way as everyone else.
