Mark Steyn, very much thinking along the lines of yours truly regarding the reaction to the Manchester attack by Islam, was quoted in an AT article:

Theresa May's statement in Downing Street is said by my old friends at The Spectator to be "defiant", but what she is defying is not terrorism but reality. So too for all the exhausted accessories of defiance chic: candles, teddy bears, hashtags, the pitiful passive rote gestures that acknowledge atrocity without addressing it – like the Eloi in H G Wells' Time Machine, too evolved to resist the Morlocks.

One can certainly grieve for the young children killed or injured who were not complicit in the racism against whites that is formally called “multiculturalism,” but we should be circumspect about any outrage regarding this act of war by Islam. These people in Europe are creating exactly the kind of culture they want to live in, including excusing the barbarity of Islam.

It could occur to the young adults who attend such concerts and are nearly blown up (escaping the fate of the Islamic bomb lottery) that their own governments won’t protect them. It’s obvious that these governments won’t. They’re good at lighting candles and warning people not to over-react (or even act), and very poor at protecting their citizens from the Muslim animals.

In some respects, this is just Karma. A culture that routinely butchers unborn children in the millions might find it easy to get used to the slaughter, to thinking of bombings by Islamists as just the societal tax you have to pay. One-third of all pregnancies in Europe end in abortion (adding greatly to the demographic downfall of native populations). According to some quick Googling, England has topped France as the leader with 219,336 abortions in the UK in 2007.

If death is what Europe wants, there is no shortage of Muslims who will give it to them. It’s ironic (crazy, really) that Europeans consider conservatives and Christians to be their most direct and despised enemies. To them, we represent exactly the very thing that Muslims are actively carrying out: misogyny and the dominance of men, hatred of homosexuals, religious fundamentalism, enemies of the sexual revolution, etc. — and all carried out not by the ballot box but by intimidation and violence.

So, aside from the innocent children who are harmed, you might understand that I can find little sympathy for a culture (Europe) that is not in the least a victim of Islam but a willing participant in its own destruction.

Note that stopping the "refugee" (i.e., Muslim invader) flow into Britain was one motivation for Brexit (and many Tories at least supported that even if they didn't support Brexit). Manchester, a Labour stronghold, voted against Breit, so this really could be called karma. But we are at war with the jihadists, and ultimately must either destroy them or surrender.

One of the things on my mind, Timothy, is madness. (I didn’t really like the movie, “The Madness of King George.” But that’s another story. However, I really like that Sir Humphrey was in it.)

It is sheer madness that it is considered a high breach of public morality to suggest that there is an inherent problem with Islam.

I think we all have our quirks or else we wouldn’t have much of a personality. We all have our phobias. We all have our minor psychoses. (Can a psychosis be minor? Never mind.) We all tend to go off on tangents and then are embarrassed after-the-fact that we could have ever done so. But I think most of us here are certifiable sane.

But it is sheer madness wending its way through our culture regarding the way we have made it unacceptable to even acknowledge that Islam is the source of consistent and age-old murder. I think it helps just to note this bare fact.

Liberalism is a mental disorder, and never more so than when it refuses to see the toxic consequences of political correctness combined with multiculturalism. Rotherham was bad enough, but at least no one died. Eventually, the citizens of the West are going to have to realize that, as the robot said in one episode of Star Trek, "Survival cancels programming." It never will for the elites because they think they're protected from the consequences.

Incidentally, the original play about George was ]he Madness of George III. The name was changed lest customers skip it because they hadn't seen the first two movies.

These two opinions expressed in the comments section of a David French article shows you just how divergent from reality many people are…and that there are some clear and informed thinkers out there still. The first comments starts off by quoting French (the first paragraph):

"Britain should seek vengeance. And if terrorists want to provoke a climactic confrontation in the Middle East, then the West should give them the battle they crave. Why? Because they’ll lose. Because they’ll be slaughtered."

"They" will lose? "They" are not some standing army, you know. "They" are anyone who feels sufficiently estranged from their society that they would rather burn it down than live in it. They're basically the equivalent of school shooters who've read a couple of Quranic verses. You cannot defeat these people by going after one particular group of them in one part of the Middle East. Remember all that wiping out of al-Qaeda that took place in the 2000s and early 2010s? What did that achieve, exactly? Islamic State, that's what. Unless you strike at the *causes* of terror, you will find there is an infinitely replenishing supply of it.

These people do not crave Western restraint. On the contrary, restraint is the last thing ISIS wants. What they seek is a reaction, an "overwhelming response" that will set the West at war with Islam. You acknowledge this. So why give them what they want? Who wins? All that happens is the vast, vast majority of Muslims who are non-violent will suddenly feel themselves to be under attack and join in the fight. And what does that achieve, exactly?

No. The way to defeat Islamist terror is the same way you defeat any ideology. Present a better one and open it up to anyone who wants to join. Make people feel welcome in the better world you believe in. Find the people who feel divorced from society and convince them that they do belong, that there is a place in this world for them.

Manchester is standing up to terror today by saying: sorry ISIS. You don't get our fury. You don't get the animosity you want between Muslims and the rest of us. You don't get to win that way. We don't do vengeance. The only Holy War we're interested in is the Premiership. Now stop being such a daft bloody apeth and come and watch the match.

And now the response:

"Find the people who feel divorced from society and convince them that...there is a place in this world for them."

Islamic terrorists, whether imported or home-grown, don't want a place in this world, regardless of how inviting it would be. They want us to take a place in their world, either as absorbed by or subjugated to Islam. Many Democrats can't even find within themselves the generosity of spirit to allow that there is a place in this world for Republicans, yet somehow we are to believe that the West can find a place for absolutely anti-Western anti-assimilationist ideologues that they would be willing to accept.

If we want to know what a place in this world that is acceptable to Islamists would look like, simply look to the "no go zones" in Paris and several British cities or the hundreds of rapes in Oxfordshire or the reported increasing sexual violence across Europe.

There are already places on the globe where these people would be welcome and where they would feel like they belong, namely the more than fifty Muslim-majority countries in the world. Often, as is the case with the Manchester bomber, they visit those places. Rather than remaining there, where they are welcome and they belong, they return to the West newly prepared to "martyr" themselves by killing scores of little girls. Feeling welcome is not the point. The point is the universal imposition of Islam.

This is not a late-twentieth-century, early-twenty-first-century phenomenon. Member of Congress Keith Ellison took his oath of office on Thomas Jefferson's Koran, which Jefferson had not because he so respected Islam but because he wanted insight into what made those Barbary pirates tick. In other words, it is not Britain's or America's or France's "fault" that terrorists commit atrocities. It is the terrorists' ideology's fault and no amount of bon bons, hugs and flowers will placate those who demand obeisance or death.

I think, Mr. Kung, that "neurosis" was the word that was escaping me. My mild psychosis got in the way from finding it.

Ruk (Lurch) said that (or something like that) in last weeks airing of “What Are Little Girls Made Of?” on MeTV. And that’s a great analogy, Timothy, for what most Westerners need to happen.

That’s one of the few episodes highlighting Nurse Chapel. As I quipped to my brother, “They didn’t actually destroy the android-making equipment, although all the androids were terminated. I wonder if Kirk had that equipment beamed up to the ship so that he could make a few more Andreas?” McCoy has had his share of fun as well (from “Shore Leave”). So did Scotty.

My brother has an idea for a new Star Trek spin-off series that could playfully deal with stuff like this. It would be a sort of “What happened after” type of show. He hasn’t quite nailed down all the details. But imagine a roving reporter, archeologist, or just Enterprise enthusiast who set out to go beyond the “Captain’s log” reports filed regarding the various incidents that Kirk and the Enterprise took part in. There could be lots fun details to flesh out.

Speaking of Yeoman Rand (and we were speaking of her somewhere), remember the other Yeoman babe, Yeoman Smith from The Menagerie? One of my favorite Star Trek babes is Miramanee. Again, that new Star Trek show could visit this planet where we would no doubt find some children that look a lot like James T. Kirk.

My point to all this being that if the rag-heads were in charge, we couldn’t talk about this stuff. We’d have to talk about how great Allah is or how we wish death to The Great Satan, etc.

Well, jihad has just struck Britain again in a series of attacks in Londonistan. A van ran over at least 20 people on London Bridge, then people got out with large knives and started stabbing. Another attack occurred at a nearby borough market, and there's a third attack that (the last I heard) was thought to be unconnected. I'm sure the Prime Minister will talk about courage again (which is easier when you have plenty of guards). And I'm sure the Muslim Mayor of London will be quick to dismiss Islam as a motivating factor.

It is interesting to read the excuses Leftists or Muslims will make for the murderous jihadists. In response to most posters noting that there is something about Islam which brings out this horror, I have read the following of something like it, on a couple of strings. "Let's hold all the Christian priests responsible for their pedophilia."

Once again, after reading such comments, I must pose the question, "Are you dishonest or just stupid?"

I am inclined to believe there is a large portion of both characteristics in most Leftists, these days.

Talk about trying to compare apples and oranges!!!

Without going into the question of pedophilia amonsgt Catholic priests, there is one glaring point which these idiot Leftists neglect to note, i.e. nobody has to send their children to priests, Catholic or otherwise. They can be avoided without much inconvenience and they are not molesting others on the streets.

This cannot be said of the Islamic jihadists.

I hope I have helped clear up the situation for our idiot-leftists friends and colleagues.
