Oddly enough, I've seen reports that the Japanese didn't share the Nazi hatred of Jews. They believed what they were told about the Jews -- and decided that they'd be very useful. Much more sensible than Hitler, Goebbels, and Himmler when you think about it. (Also more sensible than Julius Streicher, expert in Judaica. But that doesn't say anything.)

When I lived in Japan, I met at least one Jewish man who had lived under the Japanese in WWII. He has no troubles with them and, in fact, made excuses for them about WWII. According to him, since every decision in Japan is made by consensus the Emperor did not hold any responsibility for what happened. I said something like the top Nazis reached a consensus to exterminate the Jews so according to his logic, Hitler would not have any responsibility. He didn't reply. Of course, I couldn't much blame him as he was safe in Japan as a young man during WWII and lived there into his old age.

As to the Japanese attitude to the Jews, it should be noted that the Japanese view all foreigners as strange so the Jews would just be another group of "Henna Gaijin." (Strange Foreigner)
