Post State of the Union

If you watched the State of the Union speech last night, you saw an amazing display by the president. Everyone liked to say that the Obamanation was a great speaker, and it is true he could say nothing about as well as anyone I have ever seen, but Trump is the best speechifier since Reagan. Maybe better than Reagan.

Trump was, unapologetically, pro-American. He praised our history without the usual, "of course we have made our mistakes" and other such qualifications.

My wife said that one of the main reasons she likes Trump is that he clearly and unashamedly loves this country. As a naturalized American, who came here legally and chose to become a citizen, maybe she has a better appreciation of this love than many of those of us who were born Americans.

Simply not hating this country is a yuge ingredient for an American president. I didn't watch his speech. And I hope he loves our country enough to send each and every illegal alien back to where they came from. And no Muslim immigrants should be allowed. Drill baby drill. Deconstruct the Deep State. Fire Mueller. Locker her up. Build the wall. Nuke North Korea if necessary. Stop giving any Muslim country a single dime. And reform entitlements.

Let me comment on your list of desires.

1. I am not yet sure what he is going to do with the illegals in the country. I fear he will actually allow over a million of the DACA people have a pathway to citizenship. If he does, I believe he will lose a large percentage of his support.

2. No Muslim immigrants. He did finally get to impose temporary delay on those countries which furnished a lot of terrorists.

3. Drill baby drill. No need to discuss much. The USA is becoming the world's largest producer of energy. I believe was are now producing more oil than Saudi Arabia or Russia. I don't know the exact breakdown between crude and natural gas. We are huge exporters, and growing, of "product" which means gasoline, diesel, various other ignitable fuels.

4. Deep State. He has repealed more regulations than any other president and that is a good way to deconstruct the Deep State. I believe more Federal Government employees have left under this administration than any previous one.

5. Mueller. I have hopes that the memo coming out of the from the Congressional Intelligence Committee will help in this regard.

6. Lock her up. I doubt this will happen, but boy would it be nice.

7. Wall. I think he will get some of this.

8. Nuke. Be careful what you wish for.

9. Money to Muslim countries. In his speech last night, he stressed that the USA was going to cut back money to those who are not our friends. He was referring to those countries who voted against the USA in the U.N. when Trump made the decision to move the US embassy to Jerusalem. I think the Palestinians will not be getting so much money from us, in future.

10. Entitlements. Will take a lot more conservative Republicans in Congress.

And number 11: Make Susan Sarandon's head explode.

I think he'll continue to accomplish this.

It has been noted than whatever progress a president might make on entitlements usually comes in the second term (though welfare reform came in Clinton's first term, he vetoed it twice first and finally concluded, based on polls, that he would be better served by signing and then claiming he would reform it to make it more generous). Bush's effort on Social Security came in the second term, though he and many supporters of it (such as Louisville's own Anne Northup) campaigned on it in 2004.

I believe Trump has actually reduced federal non-military employees in his first year. It will be very good if he can maintain this progress. Federal non-military employment increased even under Reagan.

It was interesting to observe how often the Demagogues failed even to clap even when Trump up ordinary good news. Apparently only one CBC member cheered the news that black unemployment was the lowest on record. Good news is bad news for leftists, especially when it redounds to the credit of someone they loathe.

If Nancy Pelosi "drilled, baby, drilled," sponsored an anti-abortion law, or defended the United States from hostile attack from a foreign nation (not counting the Muslim immigrants, of course, which they do not count as a hostile attack), I would cheer. That the Democrats do not cheer when good things happen to America shows that they are evil. Not just partisan. They are evil.

Yes, that's the important thing to note. Naturally they weren't going to support Trump when he pushed his agenda, which is mostly the opposite of theirs. But while they naturally didn't applaud his immigration security proposals, they also refused to clap over this amnesty proposals. And they sat quiet during obvious good news that even most of their party voters liked (according to 2 overnight flash polls -- genuine scientific polls, from CNN and CBS -- a large minority of Demagogues were pleased with the speech). They showed no courtesy toward Melania and the Donald, or even one of their House's own, Steve Scalise, when his recovery was brought up.

Here is an article giving more details about how the energy sector has grown again.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-oil-production-tops-10-million-barrels-a-day-for-first-time-since-1970-1517429674

The numbers do not include natural gas production.

They also don't cover coal, which is exporting to Germany since they closed down their nuclear power plants. Solar and wind power are unreliable there, so Angela Merkel's decision to emphasize renewables didn't work out well.

I would like to use the term "State of the Union" a bit differently now. The link below will take you to an article which shows how corrupt the Obama administration was.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/obama-biden-cronies-made-billions-off-china-trade-deals-and-regulatory-policies-report

While the Obama administration may be special, I assure you, dear reader, that much the same type of thing happens in Republican administrations. Perhaps it is not as blatant or crass, but the crooks are still there.

That is why I keep advising people to keep an eye on the money. Iraq war=corruption, Iran deal=corruption. Those are only a couple of the most obvious fountainheads of corruption.
