California’s Water Problems

by John D. Neese7/30/15

California’s water reservoirs have the potential to hold 42 million acre-feet of water, enough to submerge all of Iowa in knee-deep water. Each year one-half of the rain they are able to capture and snow that falls in and on the state is permitted to run off without being “so-called managed” and this half of the water is being used for their environmental purposes such as providing in-stream flows for fish “non-eatable Smelt” and for habitat for other wildlife.” This fact is not being reported by the MEDIA or EPA.

What is being reported extensively by the Media and EPA is that farmers use 80% of the water. This is an outright lie. Farmers use about 80% of what is so-called managed water, in truth, this is 40% of the total of the so-called managed water.

The average people of California must be dumb, stupid or brainwashed because they are letting environmental idiots limit them from 60% of the total of so-called managed water use plus 100% of the other but not managed water run off to do good for their well-being and to feel good about being good to their environment.

One wonders if the price of Utopia will one day become so high that it will penetrate through the brains of the congregants of the Church of Environmentalism that their ideology is…err…unsustainable.

  2. Timothy Lane says:

Water, water everywhere — nor any drop to drink (or irrigate). But it would be better if a market in water were established. In a relatively arid state, it makes no sense to rely heavily on crops that require above-average amounts of water. Let wetter states grow most of the fruit and vegetables — or, this being California, should that be fruits and nuts?

You can take that to the bank. Even many of the “intelligent” people of California fall under this description.

I know someone with a undergraduate degree from Stanford an MBA from Chicago and is a good businessman to boot. But he does not appear to be interested what is happening in in his state California. He is truly a good Leftist, but believes he is only moderately so.

Kung Fu Zu, I’m sorry that I stated the average people of California must be as stated. The “intelligent” people of California are the problem. They are the drivers of all of this!

You may recall some of their adventures with the Mediterranean fruit fly during Brown’s last gubernatorial era (1975-1982). I called him “Save the Medfly” Brown at the time. Nothing has really changed since then.

This is a clear example of why we must never be ruled by technocrats, those “smart people”. To paraphrase Reagan,

“It isn’t so much that the intelligentsia are ignorant. It’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.”
