    This is basically a modern retelling of Voltaire’s Candide. The elephant boy is invited by President Pangloss of the Best of All Possible Nations, and has adventures much as Candide himself did. It’s set in the era of protest against the Vietnam War.

    I looked at his Wiki bio and it sounds like Wibberley, the author, led an interesting life. He certainly churned out copy.

      The Grand Fenwick series ultimately came to 5 books, all of which I had back in the house we sold. Not to mention others, some of which I had, including this one.
